Abstract: | High voltage direct current (HVDC) cables widely use low density polyethylene (LDPE) as main insulation because of its associated advantages. Though, it has been underlined that, it displays non-linear conduction current (charge transport in dielectric) when used under high electric field. Different charge transport models have been proposed for understanding the conduction current in LDPE, such as Pool-Frenkel, Hopping model, Schottky model etc. These models explain the process of charge transfer through the material; using different kinds of traps present [1-4]. In this paper comparative study has been done for famous charge transport models with experimentally obtained conductivity for a wide range of electric field (20 kV/mm to 200 kV/mm) and at different temperatures (30˚ C, 50˚ C). |
