Abstract: A dipodal naphthalimide based receptor 1 was synthesized, characterized and processed into organic nanoparticles (N1) using single step re-precipitation technique. These organic nanoparticles were further used as a platform for the development of hybrid organic–inorganic framework (H1). Hybrid nanoparticles thus formed were evaluated for their photo-physical behavior and their interaction with various available drugs using fluorescence spectroscopic technique and found it selective in determination of amoxicillin in aqueous medium. Competitive binding studies further confirmed the selectivity of H1 for amoxicillin, as no interference was perceived with any other drug in determination of amoxicillin. H1 was able to determine amoxicillin quite efficiently in commercially available tablets of the drug with a lowest detection limit of 236 nM.
