Abstract: This paper deals with the novel hybrid technique for solving the IEEE distribution system in the existence of the distributed generation (DG). This hybrid technique find the optimum network reconfiguration to minimize the real power losses along with voltage profile improvement A novel hybrid (heuristic and meta-heuristic) technique is used for finding out the optimal configuration for a network. This technique is compared with Selective particle swarm optimization (SPSO) and Artificial Immune System optimization (AIS). The meta-heuristic technique (AIS) generates the initial topologies of the distribution and the branch exchange method helps in improving the chromosomes generated by the AIS. The major factor to characterize the capability of a hybrid algorithm with other meta-heuristic algorithms network and heuristic technique (branch exchange) is the effective run time. The effectiveness of the all approaches is used with IEEE 16, 33 and 69-bus test systems with invigorate results.
