Abstract:
Ni-20Cr alloy powder synthesized by the investigators was
deposited on T22 boiler steel by high velocity oxy-fuel
(HVOF) spraying process. High temperature oxidation
behavior of uncoated and coated samples was studied under
cyclic air oxidation conditions at 900C for 50 cycles in a
silicon carbide tube furnace. The kinetics of oxidation was
established using weight change measurements for the
uncoated and the coated boiler steel. The oxidation products
were studied using different characterization techniques,
which include SEM/EDS and XRD analyses. Ni-20Cr coating
was found to be successful to enhance the oxidation resistance
of the steel.
