Abstract:
With the increasing demand for renewable and sustainable energy sources, excessive efforts have been devoted to developing new advanced materials that fulfil the basic requirements of energy storage and conversion devices. Three-dimensional graphene-carbon nanotube (3D-GCNTs) hybrid materials have attracted significant research attention to develop sustainable energy technology due to their extraordinary properties. Recently, research on 3D-GCNTs hybrid materials has been regressively performed; still, a comprehensive view of the vital aspect of hybrid materials that could provide a complete picture of this promising part of the research is missing. In this review article, we provide a brief introduction of GCNTs and the various techniques used to synthesize of GCNTs hybrids with applications. Issues associated with the synthesis of GCNTs, bonding between CNTs and graphene are also addressed thoroughly via different characterization techniques. The potential applications of GCNTs hybrids for energy conversion and storage devices are also highlighted to facilitate progress in this emerging area. Finally, the challenges at the current stage and the future research directions for achieving the better performance of GCNTs hybrids are highlighted.
