Abstract
This paper presents a path planning strategy for 3D printing using the Robot-assisted Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process. The strategy enables non-planar and non-uniform material deposition on both planar and non-planar surfaces, in contrast to traditional methods which deposit layers horizontally on a flat surface using a.stl file. The proposed strategy involves outer-layer and inner-layer path planning, resulting in a reduction in support structure requirements in the FFF process. Additionally, the use of direct slicing instead of slicing a.stl file leads to a more accurate final object. This approach demonstrates a novel method for 3D printing and path planning. In order to achieve the desired properties of an object, one can explore the realm of possibilities by skillfully manipulating printing parameters.
