Abstract:
Space charge measurement in dielectric materials is very important to understand breakdown mechanism in power cables. Among several methods like pulsed electro-acoustic method, pulse propagation method, laser induced pressure propagation, the pulsed electro-acoustic method is widely used for space charge measurement due to ease of application. However, the signal obtained in the method does not represent original space charge. To obtain original space charge signal de-convolution is required. In this paper, authors examined applicability of sparse de-convolution to obtain original space charge signal using the pulsed electro-acoustic method. Charge signal obtained using poly methyl methacrylate sample, in authors' laboratory has been taken as a reference.
